Harry Potter Hype (7 and final)

The strange thing about the last book was that I’d seen the film so recently I could pick out bits of the book which were different. For example in the book Snape is killed in the shrieking shack, in the film he dies in a boating pond. When Voldemort dies in the book, they keep his body in a chamber ready to be buried but in the film he just flakes into nothingness .

The last book rounds off the series perfectly, it goes out with a bang. The first half is probably the worst  part of the books , it’s so depressing and boring, all failures and no successes . They aren’t doing much and the locket is making them grumpy and they aren’t anywhere near horcruxes and Harry is undesirable number one. It’s a very hostile scenario.

Personally the turning point is at the Malfoy manor, they manage to escape and rescue others and it’s very exciting. Something is happening. From there the path becomes clearer and they become more happy and active especially with the new excitement of the Hallows.

The scene where Harry is viewing Snape’s memories in a penisieve was a highlight for me because it’s a sad tale and you feel very sorry for him. It’s beautifully written from the moment where Snape and Lily first meet to when he comes to Dumbledore pleading for help. It exploits the true agony of love and losing one you love. As well as that it’s a shock to find that all these years Snape has put more faith in Dumbledore than in Voldemort.

The part in KIng’s Cross station was a ver peaceful scene all the dread you feel about Voldemort and death eaters and the innocent dead just disappears. It is an infomative part in the book because we learn more about Voldemort’s mistakes and Dumbledore’s regrets and that is interesting.

‘Just because this is all in your head does that mean it’s not real?’

Say’s Dumbledore and it’s an inspiring quote for me because it’s a question that we should ask our selves every so often.

The part  19 years later right at the end of the scene is a magical scene. It shows the now peaceful life of the Potter’s and the Weasley’s and how they see their children, the next generation off Hogwarts , school of witchcraft and wizardry. In conclusion Harry Potter is a rightfully successful book. It is thrilling, sad, mysterious, it is everything good about literacy.

Harry Potter Hype (5)

The Order of the Phoenix in my opinion was my least favourite Harry Potter book but by this stage it didn’t matter; all I could think was Harry Potter. I realised I was becoming more than a  fan but a HARDCORE fan. Maybe this is what it feels like to have ‘Bieber fever’ except instead of crushing on some seventeen year old pop star who sings like a girl, I am in admiration of a worldwide phenomenon series of books.

The thing that made it the worst so far was that it was (like the first) a mere introduction to the last books, the 6th and 7th (The Half Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows) However it was exciting, very exciting, the sort of excitment that makes you want to scream (I know most JB fans can relate to this) ! The evil Professor Umbridge makes you hate the ministry and her dictatorship over the school makes your insides at the mere thought of such a horrible fictional character. As well as exciting the book is unfortunately infuriating at the same time. You have little clue about what the door means until the very end and it’s practically just as annoying as the line ‘and it was all a dream’.

I wish JK Rowling had put in more detail about the downfall of Umbridge. And then more of a confrontation to the ministry as to why they refused to accept Dumbledore and Harry’s warnings.

I may appear like I hate Harry potter and the Order of the Phoenix but I still loved it and I looked forward to the sixth one which I couldn’t read because I was on holiday.

Wasps

Wasps, horrible creatures with wings aren’t they?I used to fear them but now I just pure hate them. I have never been stung by a wasp but I imagine it would be painful because it’s not like sticking a pin in your leg , it’s like putting a slightly venomous pin in your leg. And usually a wasp sting is unjustified unlike a bee sting which kills the bee and so usually bees only do it as a last resort whereas wasps sting anyone or anything.

I am telling you all this because I have had a very funny encounter with wasps lately. My friend gave me some sweets and I didn’t really like them, they were okay but they had fallen all out my bag and got dirty. I was tidying up and I had these sweets and I didn’t know what to do with them so without thinking about it I put them on my window ledge because my window was open at the time later I shut the window forgetting they were out there. A few days later I was undoing the curtains and I noticed a few wasps eating these sweets I’d left out a lot of sweets and there were hardly any left!

They were fighting over these sweets and were acting like they were glued to the sweets. It was quite scary, I wanted to check whether the window was closed properly because I didn’t want wasps inside. I wondered how long it would take them to finish them and so through out the day i mentally checked

a) the amount of sweet left

and

b) the number of wasps at one time

At one point I counted 7 wasps outside my window also I noted that a wasp had died for some of it becacause I saw this little adomen ( and if you don’t know what part the abdomen is,here’s a diagram )

By the next morning all the sweets were gone and considering they were eating food the same size as their whole body they were pretty fast! You’d think they’d get sick of it and give up.  So wasps may be very ugly, very creepy , whatever but no one can deny that they aren’t impressive…

How did I do on this piece let me know below, on your page or at italkblog@yahoo.co.uk Please note how I have taken advice and it’s an easy colour to read and will be from now on. What are your thoughts on wasps ? Have you ever been stung by one? And what do you think about my wasp tempting?

Harry Potter Hype (3)

And so it continued …After reading the second one I couldn’t wait for the third to begin and I grabbed for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban. I stayed up till all hours reading it and personally it’s the best out of the first 3 of course I’d seen the movie so I knew about Peter Pettigrew but I became confused because I thought that Sirius was was a werewolf and was disguised as Lupin. The reason it was my favourite was because you feel against Sirius until we actually meet him and i love the scenes in the shrieking shack because everyone turns on Wormtail eventually and it’s magical!

Harry Potter Hype (4)

The Goblet of Fire didn’t beat the Prisoner of Azkaban but it came really close. If you love competitions in a story you feel tense and desperate to see who wins in the triwizard tournament. Mystery comes in once again with ‘Who bewitched the goblet and entered Harry? along with the mystery of Rita Skeeter  and the exciting ,brutal ending gets you hyped up for what will happen next.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry, good old Potter. So I had been wrong about  goonextd old famous Harry Potter and I reached for the next book…

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is most memorable for me by the whole flying car experience,I remeber in After School Club they had only one film and that was it. I remember how I  used to know the words off by heart and I would watch it every afternoon simply because I am like a moth to television screens. I can’t staring at them and it really annoys my friends they like to shout “Earth to Susie, earth to Susie are you there ?” I liked the film but when i came to thinking about it before I read the book all that would pop up was a picture of Malfoy looking catiously behind him and I don’t even know why. I do remember the flying car but had know idea which movie it was in.

I liked the Chamber of Secrets because it was a lot more mysterious and frankly a bit less predictable. Up until the end I was like who is it?Who is it,I bet it’s Malfoy. But JK Rowling was wise enough not to blame it on a slytherin but instead make it the accidental fault of sweet, innocent Ginny Weasley and a bit of dark magic from Tom Riddle.

By this stage there was no denying it I was a girl in the desert desperate for an oasis.I ran down stairs to find the next book…

Harry Potter Hype

The films are over and for those film fans who have not yet read the books now is the perfect opportunity. The finality which the films concocted is depressing almost everyone but of course there is always pottermore (what ever that is, it’s a bit vague) which comes out in October to the general public.Pottermore for me is depressing because it’s like a relay of the books which have been around for ages trying to get STILL more people to read it.In an honest opinion JK Rowling should stop trying to mess around with wizards and write something else.

I remember trying to read the books when I was about 8 but unfortunately got bored 3/4 of the way through The Philosphers Stone(Sorcerer’s Stone for those Americans) and I remember as I ceremoniously removed the bookmark slowly and placed the book on a small table before walking away. I just was bored, I probably had the temptation of another book overshadowing the first Harry Potter. It was just unlucky.

Ever since I have insulted the books but my friend who is CRAZY about Harry Potter (yes, she was the one in the cinema who came dressed as a wizard) went even more crazy when I told her Twilight was better than Harry Potter so I thought it’s been long enough and I should try again after all I’m older and I read 10X faster. So I finished the current book and rushed over to the family bookshelf. All 7 were there, faded colours with wrinkled spines and wavy pages.I picked up the first book, sat on the sofa and read.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all the movies in the wrong order and with a couple of years between each viewing.I’m a very recent fan.My other Harry Potter crazy friend chooses to watch it and we sit and watch them.I liked them but never really connected with them I just was a bit confused as to who everyone was and to be honest I felt completely out of the HP loop. My fandom came about all because Harry Potter

and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was showing on my birthday and we decided to go and see it. With a week to go I shoved all of the books I was reading aside and told myself to at least read the last one. I read it and loved the amazing ending that although I was occasionally confused I understood more than ever.I saw the film a week later and since haven’t been able to see Harry Potter in the same light,it is epic. After the film and book birthday I told myself that one day I would read them again. However other

books cropped into interest and I forgot to read about the boy that lived.

6 months later and the second part of The Deathly Hallows was released. I went to go and see it obviously and was left speechless. I had only just got a hold of Harry Potter and now he was leaving but there will always be the books…

A few days ago I read the first book – all of it and I was annoyed, annoyed I hadn’t read it sooner. Philosophers Stone is more of an introduction to the scene and characters and U felt that there would be better to come. I avidly grabbed for the next book….

To be continued…..
